Privacy policy
Summary
Minusumin is a news site. We do not require an account to read it,
and we do not sell, share or trade reader data. The only personal
data we may handle is the information you send us directly (e.g. an
email correction), plus aggregate, non-identifying server logs and —
once analytics are enabled — anonymised usage statistics with your
consent.
Data we collect
Server logs (essential). Like every web server, our hosting
provider (Fly.io) records the IP address, user agent, request path,
response code and timestamp of each request. These logs are used for
operational diagnostics and abuse prevention. They are retained for a
short period (typically up to 30 days) and are not used for marketing.
Analytics (consent-based, not yet active). When we enable web
analytics, the analytics provider may set cookies and collect
anonymised, aggregated usage statistics (pages viewed, session
duration, country-level location). Analytics will only run after you
give consent through the cookie banner. Consent is optional and
revocable.
Reader correspondence. If you write to us — typically to report a
correction — we retain the email so we can respond. We do not add the
address to any mailing list and we do not share it with third parties.
What we do not collect
We do not require registration, log-in or comments. There are no
trackers, advertising pixels or third-party social-network embeds that
load by default. Articles include share buttons that open a target
site in a new window only when you click them; they do not phone home
on their own.
Hosting and infrastructure
The site is hosted by Fly.io and uses Cloudflare as a CDN/edge in
front of the English domain. Images are served from a Cloudflare R2
bucket. These providers process traffic data as required to deliver
content (e.g. routing, caching, anti-DDoS); their own privacy policies
apply to that traffic.
Cookies
When analytics consent is implemented, the banner will list the
specific cookies it sets. The site itself does not set tracking
cookies; it may set technical cookies required to deliver content
(e.g. preferred language).
Your rights
If you are an EU/EEA resident, you have rights under the GDPR
regarding personal data we hold about you — including the right to
access, correct, delete and restrict processing. To exercise any of
these, please write to the contact address on our contact
page.
Changes to this policy
If we materially change how we handle data, we update this page and
note the date of the change in the footer.
